While we understand the importance of practicing certain skills at home, such as math facts, we also feel that doing things outside of school are important in forming a well-rounded child. We would like for your child to have time after school to create, experiment, play, and socialize with friends and family too. Therefore, on most nights, your child should be able to complete their homework assignments in less than 20 minutes. Third grade homework assignments will mainly be given for the purpose of providing practice and reinforcement of learned skills, to help develop a sense of personal responsibility, and to encourage self-discipline. Homework assignments may include math fact practice, completing an assignment started in class, and keyboarding practice. Reading every night is the most important assignment of all. There will also be monthly challenge activity available if your child is interested, but these will be optional.
